Writer's Workshop - A Letter to Santa

Dear Santa,

I think you have a pretty thankless job. You spend all year taking care of your little ones (the elves of course) and picking up after the pets (reindeer). You get constant requests for toys and receive very few thank yous. On your big night you are expected to slap on a cute outfit and jolly smile and fill the wishes of boys and girls all without a night's sleep. Hmmm, Santa your job sounds a whole lot like BEING A MOMMY!

With all of your time spent on others, it's no wonder you have put on a few pounds. I would like to apologize for all the insensitive a-holes who liken your stomach to a "bowl full of jelly." May they receive coal this year.

Santa please know that you are appreciated. I realize you don't receive a paycheck for all of your hard work and have to remind yourself that your effort to make children happy is rewarding in itself...wait what am I saying?....Screw that Santa. This year, put your feet up, open a box of Oreos and LET SOMEONE ELSE TAKE CARE OF THE KIDS! I hear Fed Ex is open Christmas Eve.

Sincerely,
Rachel (Who stills likes ponies...hint hint)

Thank you to Kat for the great prompts and to the bloggers who spend invaluable nap times doing their Writer's Workshop posts. You are the gift that keeps on giving!

So kind of you to watch out for Santa's welfare. Even though it's better to give than to receive, I bet he gets tired of all those requests.

I love the idea of writing a letter to Santa. I'm totally going to do that on my blog for Christmas eve.

That bowl full of jelly is kind of rude isn't it?? I hope you have recovered from your day as a featured blogger over at SITs!

I can relate with the belly of jelly, but I don't have a cute red suit to wear.

Great letter. I'm glad you discovered Santa can relate to us moms.

Loved the part about Fed ex being open on Christmas! Do they deliver ponies though?

I never thought about it like that before. Santa is totally like a mommy. And I so hope that you get your pony.

Funny thing about Fed Ex. Yesterday on my way to class I saw a Fed Ex truck pulled over. I thought to myself that someone's Christmas could be ruined because this police officer did not understand the importance of Fed Ex running like clock work. :-)

Thanks for making me feel like a selfish brat all those years I asked for things as a kid. Maybe I should leave Santa a slice of cookie cake and a milkshake to make up for it.

I think he'd appreciate it.

Yes, the coal "blessings" for the unwashed and uncultured masses. Go, Sippy Woman :)

And here I was getting all bitter because he gets all the credit. I'm a bad Mama, bad Mama!! Coal for me for sure.

Good luck with that whole pony thing...

Santa rocks and deserves more letters like this. I reckon the jolly old soul gets tired of all the "I wants" and was tickled to see this.

Great post!
